---Bastille, Paris. It's the late 1780's and France is finally making a change! ! If the change is for the best or the worst is up to you to decide. This period that we are in is called the Old Regime. In the Old Regime as we all know, there are three main estates, or classes if you prefer. The Clergy, the Nobility and the Bourgeoisie. The Clergy consists of the priests, bishops, nuns and monks. The Nobility consists of the nobles and knights. The Bourgeoisie consists of the peasants, such as: business owners and merchants. Besides King Louis XVI, the Clergy and the Nobility run the government. And the rest of us aren't okay with that! The way this whole government works is that each estate or class if you would want to look at it that way gets a vote. In my opionion this is unfair, because our population is much greater than the Cleargy and Nobility put together. The Clergy and the Nobility always teams up and votes against the Bourgeoisie. Since they control the government they think it's alright to make the bourgeoisie pay all of their very expensive taxes. At first paying all their taxes was a hassle, but not impossible. Atleast not until King Louis XVI started drastically overspending all of our money. When King Louis XVI went too far with the lavish spending, the poor people in the Bourgeoisie were starving. Now-a-days we can't even afford a loaf of bread! Its 800 Pounds, how rediculous is that? And of course all the business owners are tired of not having power even though they're rich. The rich people in the Bourgeoisie (business owners) saw oppurtunity in the rest of the population and since the poor are hungry and full of anger they're going with it! Since the poor are so desperate for a change they have agreed to start a revolution with the rest of the Bourgeoisie. We'll see how this all will turn out!
The Enlightenment the first movement where people started using science to answer their questions, instead of god. In France a lot of Rulers, such as Louis XVI told the people that they were the chosen ones from god. Once people started looking at things from the Scientific way instead of the Religous way, Louis XVI didn't look so important. His lowered importance made it easier for people to betray him. And the best way to betray the king is to overthrow them and revolt. The Enlightenment brought upon The American Revolution, and that without a doubt infulenced the French Revolution. I see where the revolters are comming from, because since the Americas were so succeful, why wouldn't we be? At the end of this revolution I hope that things change. Especially with the power. In the next year or two I would be extremely happy with a shift in power! Maybe the people could control and we could finally have a democracy!
